With its serene beauty and stunning views, the Village of Ephraim has a lot to offer. As for the numerous vacationers who visit each year, Ephraim never disappoints. Whether it’s looking out over Eagle Harbor at a gorgeous sunset or taking a historic walking tour through town, you cannot help but get caught up in the splendor that is Ephraim. With more water frontage than any other village in Door County, Ephraim can only be described as absolutely amazing

Founded in 1853 by pastor Andreas M. Iverson, Ephraim is rich in history. And, thanks to the Ephraim Historical Foundation, that history is on display. On various days throughout the week, visitors can take a guided tour of the Anderson Barn Museum, Anderson Store Museum and the Pioneer Schoolhouse. If you happen to take a tour, don’t forget your camera.

Many flock to Ephraim in the month of June for one of Door County’s most popular festivals, Fyr Bal, which takes place on Father’s Day weekend. The festival features the selection of a Fyr Bal “Chieftain,” who lights the ceremonial bonfire, indicating to others around the harbor to light their bonfires. The bonfires signify the ancient Scandinavian custom of burning the winter witch to welcome the coming of the summer season. The music, dancing, food, arts and crafts and fireworks will keep you busy all weekend long.

If it’s recreation you prefer, then Ephraim is your place. Peninsula State Park has approximately 4,000 acres designated for biking, camping, golfing and hiking. You will be astounded by the endless trails that offer access to its beautiful scenery and wildlife. Peninsula State Park is a must see while vacationing in Ephraim.

Make sure you check out the various galleries, restaurants and shops Ephraim has to offer. There is definitely something for everyone in the Village of Ephraim.

Peak cherry season is in mid to late July and Door County is known for its cherries. Seaquist Orchards, located in Sister Bay, has the biggest acreage of cherries in Wisconsin and processes nearly one-third of the state's cherries. Starting in May and continueing through October, you can take a tour of their cherry orchards and sample some of the fine foods that are made with their cherries.

If you've always had an interest in lighthouses, then Door County is where you want to be. With ten historic lighthouses located on the peninsula, an entire day spent on seeing the differences between lighthouses is not uncommon. On the third weekend in May, The Door County Maritime Museum Lighthouse Walk is held. Tours of the lighthouses are given throughout the weekend. You can either do a self-guided mainland tour or you can take a boat cruise tour. Whichever tour you choose, you will no be disappointed.

If you plan on visiting Ephraim sometime in the near future, we would be delighted to have you stay with us at Bay Breeze Resort.
